Jessica Fox

Fox is a movement artist, choreographer, teacher, Pilates and yoga instructor, Reiki practitioner, a wife, and a mother. For the past twelve years she has been working alongside her husband and an amazing staff to revitalize a 1923, 15,000 sq. ft. vaudeville theatre. Her vision is to create an educational learning space to support the performing arts in Huntington, WV. So far, the space houses a 500 seat main stage theatre, 4 movement studios, a fully equipped Pilates apparatus studio, a small boutique, administrative spaces, a costume shop, and lobby facilities culminating in a hub of artistic expression for the Appalachian community it serves.

She has presented & performed work at Gooseroute Dance Festival (WV), RadFest (MI), The Jack Guidone Theatre (DC), The Greenberg Theatre (DC), The Eleanor D. Wilson Museum (VA), The Palisade Playhouse (PA), Cleveland Dance Fest (OH), The Tamarack (WV), Joan C. Edwards Playhouse (WV), The Clay Center (WV), and the Huntington Museum of Art (WV). Fox has been invited as a guest artist to Marshall University, Ohio University, Davis & Elkins College, and Radford University.

Fox received a grant to study at Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre (2002), was awarded a field study grant to research contact improvisation (2003), and holds a BFA in dance from Ohio University (2004). She was honored to receive an endowment from the state of Maryland as an individual artist (2005), she became a certified Pilates Instructor (2005), taught on faculty at The Washington Ballet (2005 - 2006), began a 501C-3 dance company in Washington DC (2006), became a certified yoga & Pilates instructor (2006). She went on to complete her teacher certification with American Ballet Theatre (2012-2014), she is honored to have received numerous arts grants to date from Ohio and West Virginia. Fox holds an MFA in dance from Hollins University in collaboration with the Forsythe Company, and Frankfurt University of Performing Arts (2016). Fox has been involved in a year and half long collaboration with musician Mark Williams, and is a the feature dancer in “Shell”, Fox most recently served as the Ballet Faculty for the West Virginia Governor’s School for the Arts (2018). Over the past 6 years, Fox continues to avidly expand, share, and research her work on memories, touch, and movement improvisation known as “Memory Scrolling”.
