The third annual Midwest Regional Alternative Dance Festival (RAD Fest) is a juried event featuring the best in cutting edge modern and contemporary dance from all over the Midwestern United States. No other festival in the region offers emerging and experimental artists the opportunity to present their work (without financial commitment), opportunities for professional development (master classes, lectures), and free networking events. Wellspring is committed to providing performance opportunities to developing and professional dancers alike to strengthen the regional dance community and build stronger audiences for modern dance.

The RAD Fest will shine a spotlight on Kalamazoo as a community that creates and presents the best in arts and culture. At a time of disinvestment in the arts, Wellspring is committed to preserving and expanding artistic offerings to Southwest Michigan. The festival (March 2-4, 2012) is estimated to attract over 20 choreographers and their dance companies; nearly 600 audience members and an additional three 300 attendees to surrounding events. The three-day festival is expected to have an economic impact of approximately $30,000 and attract 300 visitors to Kalamazoo.
