sarah zehnder

choreographer

Sarah Zehnder founded Zehnder Dance in 2010 as Choreographer, Artistic Director, and dancer. Zehnderʼs unique choreographic style hinges on a dance background in hip-hop and an investigation in powerful physicality onstage irrespective of gender. Zehnder began her dance training as a self-taught hiphop dancer and was introduced to modern dance in college where her choreographic voice grew stronger. Her work has been shown at Jacobʼs Pillow Dance Festival as part of Inside/Out, DUMBO Dance Festival, East Flatbush Dance Festival, Green Space, Dance Theater Workshop as part of Movement Research Open Performance, The Gowanus Arts Center as part of Spoke The Hubʼs Winter Follies, Bates Dance Festival, The American Dance Festival, The College at Brockport State University of New York, Rochester Contemporary Dance Collectiveʼs Concert and Dance Dialogues, and Bowling Green State University. Zehnder, originally from Ohio, earned her BS in Dance from Bowling Green State University and her M.F.A. from The College at Brockport State University of New York.
