erin mitchell

Originally from Richmond, Virginia, Erin received a BFA in Dance and Choreography from Virginia Commonwealth University. While in Richmond she danced and choreographed with the Latin Ballet of Virginia, and had the opportunity to tour throughout the East Coast, and Mexico. As co-founder of the Taffety Punk Theatre Company, a non-profit performing arts company in Washington, DC, Ms. Mitchell choreographed “The Phoenix and the Turtle” which premiered on the Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, in 2006. While living in Michigan Erin danced with Wellspring/Cori Terry & Dancers, and continued to teach and show work as an independent choreographer. Her choreography has shown in such festivals as the Capital Fringe Festival and the Midwest Regional Alternative Dance Festival, and in venues throughout the Mid-Atlantic, Mexico, Washington, DC, and Michigan. In addition, Ms. Mitchell has worked as adjunct dance faculty at Western Michigan University, and held positions as the Assistant Theater Manager for the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Festival Coordinator for RADFest, and Educational Programs Director for the Latin Ballet of Virginia. In 2009 she was the recipient of an Emerging Artist Grant from the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo.
